The Arts and crafts

Steiner was an original and versatile artist, as is evident from his buildings, paintings, sketches, etched glass windows, sculpture, plays and meditative verses. In these arts, as well as those of music, puppetry, acting and speech formation, he gave new inspiration leading to innovative approaches, a variety of styles and a renewal of the arts as expression of the spiritual. These new approaches are also particularly effective in various forms of art therapy, and in child and adult education.

Anthroposophy has also inspired new approaches to design in the crafts of natural toy and doll making, metalworking and jewellery, furniture making and the shaping of household objects and fittings. A special area is the making of musical instruments, particularly the modern lyre.
