Organisation Development
Professor Bernard Lievegoed, a Dutch psychiatrist working out of Anthroposophy, pioneered a new approach to organisation development, which recognises the organisation as a living being with its own unique culture (soul life) and spirit, yet evolving through a number of characteristic phases.
The Association for Social Development is a world-wide network of professional consultants who facilitate the development of organisations as human rather than merely technical systems, and who use insights, concepts and processes derived from Anthroposophy. This approach recognises that organisations only develop when individuals within them develop themselves, and find new ways of working together. Lievegoed also researched the phases of adult development throughout life as described in his book Phases. This led to Biography Work and workshops which help people to understand themselves by reviewing their lives, to recognise their development needs and challenges, and to make- conscious changes and choices for the future.
