Anthroposophical Society in the Western Cape
Humanity can play God as never before. This ability has been advancing with increasing speed since the splitting of the atom in 1945. We can say that the advances in technology and our immense new powers of manipulation have pulled us over the edge of normality. We are living in an extraordinary new reality with threats and possibilities undreamed of a couple of generations back.
Do we, and those with the power to manipulate, have the inner resources and insights to really meet this new reality? Are we meeting this quantum leap into a new world with an equal leap of inner strength, of inner stability and new thinking? Can we get beyond handling the new challenges with the old band-aid mentality?
All of us are called to develop new ways of seeing, new ways of thinking and new ways of being active.
The Anthroposophical Society in the Western Cape strives to address this call. Activities to do this include study groups, lectures, social and artistic activities, book sales, workshops, conferences, and festivals. The library contains the biggest selection of Anthroposophical literature in the Southern hemisphere.
In 1924 Rudolf Steiner founded the General Anthroposophical Society, based in Dornach in Switzerland, of which the Anthroposophical Society in the Western Cape (ASWC) is but one of many affiliated organisations. The ASWC is also affiliated to the Anthroposophical Society in South Africa (ASSA).
